This year we celebrated Father’s Day with a picnic at Duke Gardens. We used to go there all the time when we were kids to climb the Magnolia trees and kick around a soccer ball.
Mom made chicken salad sandwiches (veggie for Sarah Rose, gluten free for Krista Anne – goodness!), and we had cold lemonade to sip on, too.
We are so thankful to our dad for teaching us how to respond enthusiastically to the world. His genuine delight and awe of nature and new knowledge has shown us how to engage with the world fully and happily. We also thanked him for exposing us to such good music and books from an early age. Nice to have a dad with such good taste.
The day wouldn’t be complete without some good old fashion tree climbing!
We were missing Brita in Asheville! But she was there in spirit, and on the telephone.
Happy Father’s Day to all the daddies out there.
